PV Cycle signs cooperation in the Netherlands

PV Cycle and The Netherlands’ leading WEEE scheme Wecycle have signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen domestic collection of household and professional PV module waste.

To date, PV CYCLE has collected about 150 tonnes of discarded PV modules in the Netherlands through its direct pick-up service and two dozens of fixed collection points. “Working with Wecycle will better enable us to offer a nationwide collection solution for small quantities of PV module waste”, explained Jan Clyncke, Managing Director at PV CYCLE. Wecycle will add another 18 collection and 7 sorting centers to the existing network of PV CYCLE in The Netherlands.

“Owners of PV systems will now find it easier to dispose of their PV modules. However, more than 95% of the collected volumes come in via our pick-up service for big quantities”, said Michel Henneghien, PV CYCLE Country Manager for The Netherlands.

Since February 2014, PV modules have been falling under Dutch WEEE law, resulting in a legal compliance and waste management obligation for companies selling for the first time PV modules onto the Dutch market.
