Recoup highlights recycled plastic innovators

Recycling charity Recoup is once more supporting the plastics recycling industry via their support of the UK Best Recycled Plastic Product Award 2018.

The aims have always been to raise awareness in the latest product advances and highlight the variety of products and items that now contain recycled material. The award also further highlights the progression of the application of recycled plastics and presents an opportunity for the industry to show its commitment to the environment and sustainability through the application of recycled materials.

Stuart Foster, CEO of Recoup, said, “as always, we are thrilled with the number and standard of entries received for this year’s award. All the entries, and the four finalists in particular, are great examples of where recycled plastics can be used. With ambitions to significantly raise plastic recycling levels and the expectation that more UK reprocessing capacity will be producing more recycled plastic in the future, ensuring that manufacturing has a strong demand for this material is critical. Promoting the use of recycled plastic helps to showcase what can be achieved and there needs to be a continued and co-ordinated effort to stimulate the demand and appetite for the design and manufacture of such products. Awards such as this demonstrate that plastic is a circular resource – something that is critical to the future success of this industry.”

The 4 finalists were chosen by a panel of industry peers and are

  • RPC M & H Plastics – Garçon Wines’ rPET flat profile wine bottle
  • Bloom-in-Box Ltd – Bloomie Floristry Box
  • Marmax Recycled Products – Rain Garden
  • Straight Manufacturing Ltd – Triple Stack System

The 2018 winner will be announced at the Plastics Industry Awards dinner at The London Hilton on Friday 28th September 2017.
