Sunkonnect targets 200 million tonnes CO₂

Sunkonnect has announced a plan to contribute to India’s climate targets by reducing up to 200 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions by 2030. The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s objective to cut emissions by one billion tonnes within the same period under its commitments to the Paris Agreement.

According to the company, the planned measures would account for approximately 20% of this national target, positioning Sunkonnect CO₂ reduction India as part of the broader decarbonisation strategy.

Focus on emerging urban and industrial regions

India’s climate policy prioritises infrastructure decarbonisation, energy efficiency and resilience in both metropolitan areas and smaller cities. While earlier initiatives concentrated on large urban centres, Sunkonnect is expanding its activities to tier 2 and tier 3 cities as well as industrial hubs. These regions are expected to drive future economic growth and emissions, increasing the relevance of targeted energy and sustainability measures.

Services for energy and emissions management

The company provides greenhouse gas accounting, climate consulting and net-zero roadmaps tailored to national regulations and international standards. Its client base includes facility operators, real estate developers, small and medium-sized enterprises and educational institutions.

Sunkonnect also supports certification processes such as IGBC, WELL and LEED. In addition, the company applies digital tools, including AI-based building management systems and IoT-supported energy optimisation. According to company data, these measures can enable energy savings of up to 25% and operational cost reductions of up to 40%.

Carbon management in events and partnerships

In a recent project, Sunkonnect acted as a carbon-neutral partner for the Foundation for MSME Clusters at the 9th PMO Awards. The company calculated and offset event-related emissions using carbon credits. The project illustrates the role of emission accounting and offsetting in event management and cross-sector collaboration.

Knowledge transfer and sector engagement

Beyond consulting services, Sunkonnect is involved in research, data collection and stakeholder engagement. The company focuses on sectors such as steel, infrastructure and hospitality, which are considered relevant for national emissions reduction efforts. Activities include industry surveys and dialogue with policymakers and businesses.

Expansion of sustainability activities

Sunkonnect reports ongoing projects across commercial buildings, educational institutions and MSME clusters. The company is also planning to expand its sustainability services into a dedicated business unit. The initiative is intended to support further implementation of climate-related measures across sectors and regions in India.
