First waste-to-energy plant for the Philippines

Hitachi Zosen will construct the plant in the Manila metropolitan area.

The plant is expected to cost approximately 350 million Euro, including the initial investment and costs for running the facility for two decades. Hitachi Zosen will create a special purpose company for this project.

The facility is expected to process the waste of Manilas 3 million residents and to produce more than 20.000 kW of energy. Operation is expected to begin in the early 2020s.
