MAS and Siempelkamp Size Reduction (formerly Pallmann) have formed a technology alliance to develop a next-generation solution for recycling light plastics. Their new system, the Iqonic Twin Predensifier, is intended to address the challenges of processing post-consumer films and other lightweight materials.
The machine combines Siempelkamp’s PreDensifier with MAS’s conical co-rotating twin screw extruder. According to the companies, this ensures stable and energy-efficient processing even when input material quality fluctuates. Unlike conventional cutter-compactors, it delivers a more consistent melt, reducing quality variations at the extruder intake.
Key benefits include reduced gel formation and black spots, energy use of about 0.15 kWh per kilogram, compact design, simplified maintenance, and immediate start/stop capability without preheating.
Applications include recycling of films, fibers, PP ropes, nonwovens, fleece, and XPS. The system will be officially presented at K 2025 in Düsseldorf from 8–15 October at the MAS (hall 9, booth D30) and Pallmann (hall 9, booth A10) booths.
