The solutions reflect current requirements in the recycling sector, where processes are becoming increasingly specialised and technology-driven.
Generation 8 material handlers introduced
Liebherr will present two prototypes from its new Generation 8 series: the LH 18 M Industry G8 and the LH 22 M Industry E G8. The models represent different drive concepts, including a conventional diesel variant and an electric version.
A central feature of the new generation is the INTUSI operating system, which enables customised configuration of machine functions. The system is integrated into the redesigned emCAB, which offers improved visibility through increased glass surfaces and an optimised arrangement of controls. The cab design aims to support ergonomic operation and operational safety.
Both machines are equipped with a sliding door and a fully glazed cabin floor as standard.
Wheel loader for recycling applications
The L 546 wheel loader is designed for material handling tasks in recycling operations. It features z-bar kinematics, enabling fast cycle times and efficient handling of heavy attachments such as high-tipping buckets.
For applications requiring frequent tool changes, Liebherr offers a visibility-optimised quick coupler and the LIKUFIX fully automatic quick coupling system. The machine displayed at IFAT is equipped with assistance systems including pedestrian detection with brake support and the Skyview camera system to improve operational awareness.
Anniversary wheel loader on display
Liebherr will mark the production of its 100,000th wheel loader with a specially finished L 550 XPower model. The machine will be presented at the booth of STORK Umweltdienste GmbH in Hall A4.
The anniversary model references the development of Liebherr wheel loaders over several decades and reflects long-standing cooperation with partners in the waste management sector.
Battery-electric wheel loader
The L 507 E represents Liebherr’s entry into battery-electric wheel loaders. The model combines a stereoloader design with an electric drive system developed for this application.
The machine delivers comparable performance to conventionally powered models in the same class while operating with zero local CO₂ emissions and reduced noise levels. This supports use in indoor environments and urban areas. The integrated high-voltage battery system is designed for operational efficiency and charging performance.
Automated battery dismantling
With LHDismantle, Liebherr presents a system for the automated, non-destructive disassembly of high-voltage batteries. The solution is based on industrialised unscrewing processes and is designed to handle variations in components and conditions such as contamination or damage.
The system integrates sensor technology, software and user interface elements to support safe and reproducible dismantling processes.
Modular systems for battery processing
Turnkey Systems from Liebherr combine automation cells, machines and manual workstations into a modular system. The pallet handling system enables internal material flow, including transport, storage and process integration.
Battery discharge technology is integrated to ensure safe deactivation. The recovered energy can be reused within the system. Automated processes such as unscrewing, milling or laser cutting can be combined with manual workstations depending on application requirements.
Digital camera systems for operational safety
Liebherr will also present its LiXplore camera systems for monitoring machine surroundings. The portfolio includes 360-degree Bird’s Eye systems and camera-monitor solutions for targeted visibility.
The systems support the detection of obstacles and personnel and can be integrated into new machines or retrofitted to existing fleets. An AI-based detection function is available for person recognition in operational environments.
