On 18 March, Global Recycling Day draws attention to the role of recycled materials in manufacturing and their contribution to industrial supply chains and infrastructure. The initiative is led by the Global Recycling Foundation with support from industry organisations including the Recycled Materials Association, the British Metals Recycling Association and Tomra Recycling.

The Global Recycling Foundation (GRF) has announced the winners of the Recycling Heroes 2026 competition. The initiative recognises projects and organisations that demonstrate practical approaches to resource efficiency, recycling and circular economy solutions.

At IFAT 2026, Dieffenbacher will present its recycling and energy portfolio at two locations from May 4 to 7. In hall B5, booth 200, the company will focus on fiberboard recycling, waste wood recycling and Waste2Product applications. In hall A4, booth 138, the Energy Business Unit will present technologies for energy generation.

On 14 April 2026, Berlin will host the 28th International Recovered Paper Conference organised by the bvse Federal Association for Secondary Raw Materials and Waste Management. The event brings together representatives from recycling, the paper industry, retail and public authorities.

Agilyx ASA has announced that its subsidiary GreenDot has completed the acquisition of the French recycler RG Group. The transaction includes two additional mechanical recycling sites for low-density polyethylene (LDPE) film located in Tence and Saint-Pal-de-Mons. With this step, GreenDot establishes its first operational presence in France and expands its European activities in polyethylene film recycling.

The circular economy is under growing pressure to transform. Requirements from climate protection, resource efficiency and regulation are changing the framework conditions for waste management and recycling companies. At the same time, expectations for process stability, automation and energy efficiency are increasing. Against this background, robust and economical compaction solutions are becoming increasingly important.

Google has concluded a multi-year agreement with Commonwealth Sortation LLC, an affiliate of AMP Robotics Corporation, to remove 200,000 metric tonnes of CO₂e by 2030. The collaboration focuses on advancing biochar carbon removal in the waste sector and addressing methane emissions from municipal solid waste.

Lindner will present its recycling solutions at IFAT Munich 2026, focusing on plant engineering, shredding technology and digital services. Key exhibits include the twin-shaft shredder Urraco Evo and the mobile single-shaft shredder Merak 2800 with a new drive concept.

The European research project GEAR-UP addresses circular manufacturing with the objective of achieving measurable environmental and technical improvements. The project targets a circular manufacturing CO₂ reduction of 25–50%, alongside reductions in material waste of 25–30% and component weight of up to 30%.

At IFAT 2026 in Munich, WEIMA Maschinenbau GmbH will present a new high-torque drive for waste shredders in the W8 series. The technology will be introduced in the W8.15 PowerLine single-shaft shredder and is designed for processing demanding waste streams.

At IFAT, Spaleck will present developments in screening technology designed to improve process stability and operational efficiency in recycling applications. The focus lies on the ActiveFLOW feed unit, the AutoCLEAN screening deck and an expanded cloud-based monitoring system.
