Ineos Styrolution and Agilyx have announced that they are advancing the development of a polystyrene (PS) chemical recycling facility in Channahon, Illinois. The facility will be capable of processing up to 100 tons per day of post-consumer polystyrene and converting it into a styrene product that will go into the manufacturing of new polystyrene products.

Andusia has announced they have partnered up with a new SRF supplier, Mid UK Recycling. They plan to ship 20,000 tonnes a year of SRF to be recovered at two cement plants in the Mediterranean.

Saudi Arabia’s Alfanar Group has announced that it will set up a renewable energy office in the UK, through its subsidiary ‘Alfanar Energy UK Ltd.’. The office will oversee Alfanar’s investments in the UK, including a £1bn investment into six waste-to-energy projects.

Umicore has reported a fire today at a peripheral installation of the smelter at Umicore’s Hoboken plant. No casualties are reported. The fire brigade extinguished the fire. The impacted installation is currently shut down while the rest of the plant remains in operation.

Cepi, the European association representing the forest fibre and paper industry, announces that Jori Ringman has unanimously been appointed by the Cepi Board as successor to Sylvain Lhôte at the helm of the Brussels-based organisation.

The third Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE) exhibition and conference held recently in Amsterdam, The Netherlands attracted many more visitors and exhibitors from across Europe and beyond. The annual event had a total attendance of more than 3,250 over two days, an increase of 34.5 per cent compared to last year. It also attracted over 120 exhibiting companies, a 20 per cent increase.

Valmet and Uni Viridas have signed a ten-year operation and maintenance agreement for the biomass power plant in Babina Greda, Croatia. The order is included in Valmet’s first quarter of 2019 orders received. The value of the order will not be disclosed.
