Genan opens world’s largest tyre recycling facility

The facility is based in Houston, Texas and has the capacity to recycle 100,000 tonnes of used tyres a year, about a third of all the used tyres in Texas.

According to Genan, the Houston facility will employ approximately 60 workers and was constructed over the last two years with an investment of $140 million.

Houston is the first manufacturing location launched by Genan in the United States, and the plant will function also as US headquarters for Genan. The company plans to build 4 more plants in the US in the coming years.

Within 24 months, the Genan Houston plant will expand to produce a line of very fine cryogenic rubber powder and a technologically unique de-vulcanization line for the production of rubber, which will be able to substitute virgin rubber compounds.
