Efficient scrap handling

Feeding, sorting and dismantling are core processes in scrap recycling operations. At Kovosrot Group in Prague, these tasks are carried out using a Sennebogen 830 G material handler, which is deployed across a wide range of applications in the company’s scrap and metal recycling yard.

Excavator operator Vítězslav Weis has been employed at Kovosrot Group. for more than 15 years. His responsibilities include sorting and loading scrap, feeding scrap shears and carrying out basic maintenance work. In daily operation, the Sennebogen 830 G is used for truck and rail wagon loading, handling different metal fractions and supplying material to the shear. The machine is operated in extended shifts and is designed for continuous use in demanding yard conditions, where fast response times and precise control are essential for efficient workflows.

A central component of the G Series is the SENcon control system, which is operated via a tablet integrated into the cab. Machine functions such as operating parameters, cab settings and auxiliary systems can be adjusted directly through the touchscreen interface. This digital control concept allows individual configuration of the machine and contributes to simplified operation and reduced familiarisation time for operators.

The Sennebogen 830 G at Kovosrot Group. is equipped with K17 work equipment, providing a reach of up to 17 metres. The extended reach reduces the need for frequent repositioning of the machine and supports efficient handling of bulky scrap piles and loading tasks, particularly when working with rail wagons or in confined yard areas.

Operator comfort is supported by the Maxcab cab, which offers a spacious layout, low noise levels and clear all-round visibility. Features such as an ergonomic operating concept, an air-suspension seat and automatic climate control are designed to support concentrated work over long operating periods and to reduce operator fatigue during extended shifts.

The material handler is used daily with various attachments, including scrap shears and sorting grapples. Its robust design and precise hydraulic system are tailored to the requirements of scrap handling and recycling operations, where reliability and controllability are critical to maintaining throughput and safety.

The decision to invest in the Sennebogen 830 G was made by Managing Director Petr Tesař following an evaluation phase in which the machine was tested in practical operation. Based on the results of this trial and the positive feedback from the operating team, the machine was purchased and integrated into ongoing operations. Delivery and commissioning were carried out in cooperation with the long-standing Sennebogen sales and service partner Merimex.
