Separating packaging and biowaste automatically

Green Creative has developed a food waste depackaging machine that separates organic waste from its packaging without using water and without grinding. By removing the packaging from food residues, Flexidry recovers the fermentable fraction of waste that can be turned into biogas and fertilizer.

It is claimed to be particularly suitable for the oddments from supermarkets and the food industry that are still packed, but no longer valid.

According to the company, the machine is based on a three-step process. First, the packages are opened in a perforation process. Thereafter, the biomass is pressed out of the packaging by a roll. Then the mass flows through a grid, while the packages are meticulously brushed, so nothing gets lost: 99% of the material can be recovered this way. In addition, the proportion of inorganic material in the screened biomass amounts to only 0.2%. This creates two pure sources of raw materials, both of which can be recycled.

The machine is available in two sizes: one can handle 1,000 tons per year, the other 10,000 tonnes per year.
