India produced 8.1 Mt of crude steel in August 2016, up 9.4% compared to the same month last year. South Korea’s crude steel production was 5.9 Mt in August 2016, up by 1.8% on August 2015.
In the EU, Germany produced 3.5 Mt of crude steel in August 2016, an increase of 2.4% compared to August 2015. Italy produced 1.1 Mt of crude steel, up by 7.4% on August 2015. 1.0 Mt of crude steel was produced in Spain in August 2016, down by -11.8% year-on-year.
Turkey’s crude steel production for August 2016 was 2.9 Mt, up by 12.9% on August 2015.
In August 2016, Russia produced 5.9 Mt of crude steel, down by -1.9% over August 2015. Ukraine produced 1.8 Mt of crude steel, down by -4.1% compared to the same month in 2015.
The United States produced 6.7 Mt of crude steel in August 2016, a decrease of -3.4% compared to August 2015.
Brazil’s crude steel production for August 2016 was 2.7 Mt, down by -1.1% on August 2015.
The crude steel capacity utilisation ratio of the 66 countries in August 2016 was 68.5%. It was 68.0% in August 2015. The August 2016 capacity utilisation ratio is 0.1 percentage point higher than the July 2016 ratio.
