Mark Sellier of OneSteel Recycling Hong Kong Ltd will be in charge of the Communications Committee in replacement of Kamiel van Wijk whose professional path has taken him to new challenges. Mr Baxi extended his thanks to Mr van Wijk for his many years of dedication and wished him best of luck for his future. Mark Sellier has been an active member of BIR for many years and previously held the position of Convention Committee Chairman. Mr Baxi thanked Mr Sellier for having accepted the chairmanship of the Communications Committee, which is instrumental in discussing BIR’s communications strategy and activities and provides a direct forum for membership input, thereby serving as think tank and deliberation platform.

The Convention Committee will now be chaired by Murat Bayram of European Metal Recycling Ltd (EMR), who has been active on the BIR Non-Ferrous Metals Division board since November 2015. Mr Bayram holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and is a Director of EMR, one of the world’s leading metal recyclers. He is responsible for EMR’s non-ferrous activities in continental Europe, and has over 24 years’ experience in the scrap industry. Mr Bayram is also an active member of the German federation VDM. Mr Baxi said that he was very much looking forward to working with Mr Bayram and stressed the strategic importance of the Convention Committee, which helps determine future convention venues, formats and programmes.
