CP Group has acquired a majority stake in Recycleye to expand its portfolio of AI-driven sorting systems for material recovery facilities. The transaction is intended to strengthen the integration of artificial intelligence into sorting processes and plant control while enhancing data availability for operators.
Recycleye, based in London, develops AI vision systems for robotic and belt-based sorting applications. The combination of both companies’ technologies is designed to align existing product lines and support further development in automated sorting.
Integration of AI into plant operations
The integration of Recycleye’s technology enables higher material purity and supports real-time analysis of waste streams. AI-based systems are also used to stabilise sorting processes and reduce dependence on manual sorting positions.
In addition, the technology can be deployed at the end of sorting lines to recover residual materials and improve overall plant efficiency. The systems generate operational data that can be used to monitor performance and adjust processes.
Collaboration and installed base
CP Group and Recycleye have collaborated since 2023, including the deployment of AI-based optical sorting systems. According to the companies, more than 20 installations have been completed in Europe and the United States.
With the acquisition, CP Group expands its installed base of AI-supported sorting equipment in Europe. The companies plan to continue joint development activities in engineering and product integration.
Organisation and market strategy
Recycleye’s management and team will remain in place and continue operations internationally. The companies intend to expand sales activities in Europe and North America while maintaining their existing organisational structures.
The acquisition is part of CP Group’s strategy to further develop AI-driven sorting systems and respond to evolving requirements in recycling and secondary raw materials processing.
