World crude steel production for the 67 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (Worldsteel) was 145.0 million tonnes (Mt) in March 2017, a 4.6% increase compared to March 2016.
Steel recovery strengthens, but geopolitical uncertainty clouds outlook
The World Steel Association (Worldsteel) has released its Short Range Outlook for 2017 and 2018. It forecasts that global steel demand will increase by 1.3% to 1,535.2 Mt in 2017, following growth of 1.0% in 2016. In 2018, it is forecast that global steel demand will grow by 0.9% and will reach 1,548.5 Mt.
ISRI Unveils International Scrap Trade Database
The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) has launched a new International Scrap Trade Database providing information on international scrap trade flows. The data tables illustrate the trade of recyclables across the globe by major commodity and importing/exporting economies, and show the total amount of scrap traded globally.

Ancala buys portfolio of anaerobic digestion plants
Ancala Bioenergy Limited ('Ancala Bioenergy') has announced that it has acquired Biogen, an owner and operator of anaerobic digestion plants in the UK, for an undisclosed sum from 50/50 joint venture partners Bedfordia Group and Kier Group.
