The Mount Pleasant, Michigan based company says that their end-of-life electronics processing facility in Tinley Park, Illinois house the only Bluebox unit in the US.
Bluebox is a proprietary technology that is claimed to reduce electronics into recyclable fragments and safely extract rare earth elements, including mercury. Bluebox is expected to process one ton per hour an can – according to 3S – meet the e-recycling needs of 6 million people annually.
3S has the goal to open between six and ten facilities in the US over the next three years.
