In an open letter to the commission, CEWEP urges „not to miss the triple win opportunity to set ambitious binding targets to divert recyclable and recoverable waste from landfills“. The letter sums up the advantages of landfill banning and points out the costs of landfilling. „If landfilling is not restricted, there will be no investments, no innovations, no markets, no closing of the loop and no circular economy“, CEWEP concludes.
