Irish incinerator took 20 years to build

According to the Irish Times, the Poolbeg incinerator in Dublin will finally start working in March. The first proposal for the plant was 20 years ago.*

Although it took less than two years and a half years to build, the city had to wait almost 20 years for the plant due to opposition from residents and city counsillors. The plant was developed as a public-private partnership between US waste firm Covanta and the Dublin local authorities.
