The FDA LNO, logged as Prenotification Consultation (PNC) No. 3291, authorises Nextloopp rPP for use at levels up to 100% across all food types and under Conditions of Use A through H, spanning the full spectrum of applications - from high-temperature heat sterilisation to frozen storage.
Following a detailed review of Nextloopp’s recycling process and feedstock controls, the FDA concluded that the system is expected to produce rPP of suitable purity, provided the feedstock is sourced from compliant food-contact articles.
Nextloopp continues to make progress with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) review, while already being able to place resin on the EU and UK markets prior to the formal EFSA process, which typically takes two years.

Das EU-Parlament hat am 9. September 2025 der Novelle der Abfallrahmenrichtlinie zugestimmt und dadurch die Grundlage für eine gesetzliche Regelung zur Erweiterten Herstellerverantwortung für Textilien geschaffen, die nun in nationales Recht umgesetzt werden muss.
Mit der aktualisierten Gesetzgebung werden verbindliche Ziele zur Reduzierung von Lebensmittelabfällen eingeführt, die bis zum 31. Dezember 2030 auf nationaler Ebene erreicht werden müssen: 10 % aus Lebensmittelverarbeitung und -herstellung sowie 30 % pro Kopf aus Einzelhandel, Restaurants, Gastronomie und Haushalten. Diese Ziele werden im Vergleich zu der zwischen 2021 und 2023 durchschnittlich pro Jahr anfallenden Menge berechnet.
Der Text, angenommen mit 431 Ja-, 145 Nein-Stimmen und 76 Enthaltungen, zielt darauf ab, den Übergang des Automobilsektors zur Kreislaufwirtschaft zu fördern, indem die mit der Herstellung und der Behandlung von Altfahrzeugen verbundenen Umweltauswirkungen verringert und die Nachhaltigkeit der Automobilrecyclingindustrie in Europa gestärkt werden.
