By fully integrating Primobius, SMS group intends to expand its activities in circular economy and e-mobility. According to the company, recycling lithium-ion batteries offers significant opportunities to recover raw materials such as nickel, cobalt, and lithium while reducing dependence on primary sources.

Primobius operates facilities and develops technologies that dismantle batteries, separate materials, and prepare them for reuse. With the acquisition, SMS group aims to consolidate expertise and accelerate industrial-scale implementation.

The group emphasized that the growing demand for battery recycling is driven by both economic and environmental factors. Establishing a closed-loop system is seen as a key requirement to ensure the sustainability of electromobility.
