According to both companies, the robots can be seamlessly integrated into new or existing facilities, making advanced automation accessible even for older scrap sorting lines.
The Heavy Picker uses AI and robotics to separate ferrous and non-ferrous metals with high precision. It has already proven effective in removing copper meatballs, wires, and contaminants from steel scrap. This is especially important as steelmakers face stricter purity requirements, including maintaining copper content below 0.1 percent in recycled steel.
Operating autonomously 24/7, the robots reduce manual labor in hazardous environments and improve workplace safety. Real-time reporting tools give operators greater control over performance and material quality.
