Textile Exchange: recycled fibre uptake grows, but textile-to-textile recycling stalls at 1 %

Textile Exchange's latest Materials Market Report and Materials Benchmark reveal a widening gap between participating fashion brands and the wider industry: reporting companies increased their use of preferred and recycled materials in 2025, while global fibre production reached a record 139 million tonnes, driven largely by virgin fossil-based fibres.
