The project brings together packaging producers, food manufacturers and waste management companies. Amcor contributes recycling and technical expertise from its CleanStream recycling facility in Leamington Spa, United Kingdom, as well as from its packaging production site in Randers, Denmark. This includes experience in the design and manufacture of food packaging using recycled materials.

The QT-AIT.Circularity provides a fast and cost-efficient method to simulate the impact of multiple mechanical recycling loops on PET recyclate quality. The test supports early-stage evaluation of packaging concepts and complements EPBP's existing tools for assessing PET bottle circularity.

Haelixa's DNA marker is applied directly to post-industrial and post-consumer waste, before shredding, staying intact through New Focus Textiles' mechanical recycling process. The non-toxic DNA marker, which is derived from Swiss mountain herbs, is a permanent tag, and cannot be removed or copied, remaining embedded throughout spinning, weaving, dyeing, and finishing.

Coordinated by Aalborg University (Denmark), the project brings together 19 partners from 12 countries to develop novel circular value chains that convert non-recyclable plastic waste into highly recyclable and non-persistent packaging materials.

Recycled graphite will enable North American and European battery and EV manufacturers to reduce dependency on imported materials and align with US, Canadian, and EU regulations that promote the use of domestic feedstock. The new product also supports the EU's target of achieving 25% recycling of synthetic graphite by 2030.

In this solely mechanical process, the coating is effectively separated from the current collector foil and separated. The recovered coating can be used directly in battery production, more precisely in the mixing process of electrode production, without any further chemical treatment steps.

For example, under the European Green Deal, 55% of plastic packaging waste will have to be recycled by 2030. This means a better design for the recyclability of materials, but also better sorting performance. With more technical and fragmented waste, guaranteeing the quality and capture of recoverable products is becoming a real challenge. Innovation therefore takes centre stage in the strategies of industrial recycling companies.
