Improved degassing performance

According to Erema, the process reduces the content of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in recycled pellets by up to 40 per cent compared with the INtarema TVEplus degassing system. Compared with the input material, VOC levels are reduced by up to 75 per cent. The technology also lowers fogging effects, which are particularly relevant for injection moulding applications.

The award highlights developments aimed at meeting increasing quality requirements for recycled plastics in demanding applications. Erema said the technology supports recyclers in producing higher-quality recyclates for applications with increased performance requirements.

Focus on post-consumer recycling

Clemens Kitzberger, Business Development Manager at the Erema Group, accepted the award in Amsterdam. He stated that the technology addresses market requirements in post-consumer recycling arising from the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and other regulatory frameworks. He added that scalable and economically viable production of high-quality recyclates is becoming increasingly important for the market.

Technology available in two configurations

Erema introduced the Volex technology with water stripping at K 2025. Following market introduction and further material trials, the company has continued to optimise the process. The technology is now also available in a version without water injection, allowing recycling companies to select a configuration suited to their processing requirements.

The Plastics Recycling Awards Europe are organised jointly by Plastics Recyclers Europe and Crain Communications, organiser of the Plastics Recycling Show Europe 2026.
