The necessary complement

The challenges posed by plastic waste have increased in recent years. Both industry and politicians have now reacted with various measures. Without an ambitious circular economy, however, the problem will not be tackled. Significant improvements are necessary in collection, sorting and recycling. One possibility could be the use of chemical recycling processes. However, there are concerns here, especially with regard to the environmental impact. The report "Chemical Recycling of plastics - Technologies, trends and policy implications" by CPES therefore examines the potential of chemical recycling as part of an ecosystem for a circular economy for plastics.
