The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) announced that ScrapTheftAlert.com is now available on the Law Enforcement Enterprise Portal (LEEP). LEEP’s over 60,000 registered users in law enforcement, intelligence groups, and criminal justice now have access to the alert system, which assists in the fight against materials theft.

So far this year, business activity in the German aluminium sector has shown a largely positive trend. Aluminium producers (plus 5.7 per cent) and converters (plus three per cent) both increased production in the first half of 2017, although there was a slight decline (minus one per cent) in the production of semis.

During its summer 2017 Board and Governance Meetings, the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), elected three new directors to its board. The new Directors-At-Large, serving two-year terms ending in 2019, are David Borsuk of Sadoff Iron & Metal Company, Adam Dumes of Cohen Recycling, and Colin Kelly of Schnitzer Steel Industries.

World crude steel production for the 67 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 143.2 million tonnes (Mt) in July 2017, a 6.3% increase compared to July 2016.

EEW Energy from Waste (EEW) and AkzoNobel’s Specialty Chemicals business agreed to extend their partnership for the supply of sustainable steam from EEW to the Chemical Park Delfzijl through to the year 2033. The new agreement was signed by both companies in Berlin today.
